I read several posts today that were very interesting and seemed like ideas that should be shared. In some circles they call these kind of posts Round-ups, but since I’ve only got a couple of posts to share, I’m just going to call them “Interesting Tidbits” and leave it at that.
Back when you were a kid and ate processed foods and sugary treats, didn’t you love Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies? So did I! (Although, after not eating one for more than a decade, I had one a year or so ago and they left this awful film on the roof of my mouth, yech!) Well, the Urban Poser has recreated that childhood treat with a version that promises to not only be much healthier than the processed original but will most certainly taste worlds better! Give these Grain Free ‘Oatmeal’ Creme Pie Cookies (Egg/Dairy/Grain Free) a try! I know I will!
Now that summer is not that far away, it’s time to think about sunscreen…or rather, a way to keep chemicals off your skin while not getting a sunburn. I changed my sunscreen to California Baby a few years ago based on the Environmental Working Group sunscreen recommendations. But if I could find a way to get my family to be “sunburn proof” through our diet that would be ideal. I am a firm believer that Vitamin D is essential to good health; so I don’t like to block the little sun we get here in the Pacific Northwest completely. According to Wellness Mama, taking some key supplements and getting more of various vitamins and minerals in our diet might make our skin less likely to burn and more likely to absorb that valuable Vitamin D. She’s also got a recipe for natural sunscreen to use if you plan to be out for an extended period of time. (And I definitely plan to make her natural deodorant! it sounds so easy and I have all the ingredients in my pantry.)

Oh my, my family will love those oatmeal pies. Such yummy looking treats, they are.
AND… don’t you LOVE EWG.org. They are so helpful. I agree on sunblock, I hate to block the little we get, so we try a balanced approach of getting some and then screening in the really intense times (those two times a year that we get that
),
