Angie Here!

I’m giving the kids a nudge toward a more Primal lifestyle this week by making them Primal school lunches. I gave the kids a few options and they chose which they wanted to put in their lunch boxes. I also made up a batch of Primal waffles for them to eat for breakfast during the school week. I’m hoping to see a little less bouncing off the walls and a little more concentration from them. Maybe taking the gluten out of their diets and adding in more protein will help a bit with that. And I’m hoping I won’t have too many uneaten lunches return from school this week. We’ll see what happens!

The girl has 2 days of Apples and almond butter and 3 days of sliced turkey, cheddar cheese and fruit.

The boy has 3 days of boiled egg white (he won’t eat the yolk), oranges and cheese and 2 days of apples, almond butter and cheese.

  1. Babybel cheeses, while delicious, are made of processed cheese stuffs and are in fact not real cheese. Therefore, they are not Paleo.

  2. Bonnie, Thanks for your comment and for reading our blog!

Although having my kids eat vegetables would be the best solution, Babybel is not a bad choice in my mind. This is what Livestrong says about them:

Babybel is 98 percent milk and 100 percent natural cheese. Each serving also includes some vegetarian rennet. Each wax-sealed serving contains 70 calories. It’s a source of vitamin A, ranging from 2 percent of your daily value on a 2,000 calorie a day diet for the Light version to 10 percent in the Cheddar. It is also an excellent source of calcium. According to Brand Power, Babybel has no added preservatives, coloring or flavors.

With no added preservatives, coloring or flavors and at 100% natural cheese, I’m ok with it. But if I were truly keeping my kids on a Paleo diet I wouldn’t give them dairy at all.
