Meal Plan Monday

WEEK 22!

Paleo-wise and eating right-wise my cave kids are doing AWESOME! My carb-o-holic son has gone cold turkey and is now grain free and is having daily revelations about the new foods he is eating and can’t understand why people wouldn’t want to eat real food all the time ;) Sound familiar? Haha we have all been there right?! We got him a gym membership so he can join his sis and I in toning up and getting stronger. I think the word is “buff” or “ripped” if you are a teenager ;) I just want to get rid of my “bingo wings”! My little cave kid is doing a great job too, Roo tackled a birthday party last weekend and actually turned down a treat from Dairy Queen!! I did express to her to relax and enjoy the party food but NO she stayed clean ;) and tummy ache free!

118881361I came upon these great books the other day at Fireworks (a very VERY cool store in Bellevue Square and Seattle) It’s a 21 day Healthy Living Journal. I noticed you can get them for Barnes and Noble too. They are great… you can document everything you eat and the exercise you do on a daily basis. I thought it would be a good way to begin Jonathan’s paleo lifestyle and with only 31 days until our Hawaii vacation it would be a great motivator to work towards that “buff” bod of his :) I got both Emma and Jonathan one as they are working together on their healthy lifestyles and motivating each other along the way. It is a geat opportunity for them to spend some quality time together at the gym and have something big in their lives that they have in common. Not sure what provoked the turnaround, whether it be the impending vacation or the talk around the house during the Paleo Summit or… well I don’t know, BUT I am very proud of the way they are embracing new foods and ditching the grains and being more conscious of the sugar and dairy they are eating. Jonathan set out to follow a 80/20 lifestyle and as of last Friday he’s been pretty much 100% paleo and has dropped few lbs. already!!

It is a relief to be only cooking one meal for dinner now. Tonight we ALL enjoyed Spaghetti Squash Bolognese and I added the kids new favorite, roast sweet potatoes as a side for them knowing that they need a few more healthy carbs than me with their constant go Go GO! Taking a look at the week to come…

We’ll be eating out a lot this week! Both my eldest Emma and I celebrate our birthdays, and it’s St. Paddy’s Day and our BF’s are Irish and YIPPEE -HORRAY hubby’s back Friday too! It’s gonna be a good week!!!

Without further a do here’s this week’s proposed meal plan…

Monday: Spaghetti squash bolognase with a side of roasted sweet potatoes for my sweetiepies!
Tuesday: Chicken &veggie soup
Wednesday: Emma’s Birthday Dinner out
Thursday: Brinner + fresh fruit salad (going to try Angie’s waffles :) )
Friday: Airport run then probably Teddy’s Lettuce wrapped yummy burgers :)
Saturday: St. Patrick’s Day Dinner – Irish Paleo Stew!
Sunday: Kate’s Birthday Dinner out

I’ll be sure to let you know the eat out hot spots, what we ate and rate their Paleo friendliness ;)

Until then…

Have yourself a fabulous week!!
