Just posted this on my personal blog and thought it would be of benefit here too.
Every few weeks we do our Trader Joe’s nut run. With three of us in the house eating paleo porridge every morning this mama struggles to keep up with the quantity of nuts and prunes needed to fuel us on a daily basis. Each run has cost us an extra $10 each time and with my impending Christmas bake day next week and yummy snacks for over the Christmas period even more supplies were purchased, $80 worth to be precise ![]()
Never thought of checking out Costco for bulk raw nuts until my friend Debbie mentioned it. Derrr! I have NO idea why I might add!! Next month could very well be much cheaper
(hopefully)
Look what else we found in our grocery bag…
I’m looking forward to having my paleo “bakeathon”! I’ll be sure to document it all to share ![]()

TOP also has a great selection of nuts in bulk. They also offer raw and roasted versions, salted and not, blanched and not. One thing they don’t offer however is organic nuts.
I think I’m going to be making my own almond meal/flour soon so I can start making some healthier choices for my family.
Unless you can find almonds for less than $4/lb then the TJ’s almond meal is cheaper than making it yourself. I’ve thought about making it myself as well, but at $6+ per pound for almonds it wasn’t cost effective.
